Twitter users show Apple’s iPhone as popular as ever

With the wide range of devices available to consumers today, it can be a relatively muddled process to figure out which mobile device reigns supreme. However, a recent analysis of Twitter activity by social media research firm Investing Analytics might make this task a bit easier. The study looked at Twitter user activity for the dates surrounding the releases of Apple's and Samsung's latest smartphone models.

The results were dramatic, showing that the iPhone 5 was mentioned five times as much as the Galaxy S4 during their respective release periods – comprised of the day of the release and the day after. Apple's iPhone 5 was mentioned in 2.4 million tweets during the launch period, while Samsung's Galaxy S4 was mentioned 440,000 times.

“We believe a Twitter analysis of tweets about the iPhone 5 launch compared to the Galaxy S4 launch demonstrates that the iPhone continues to hold more mass appeal with consumers,” Gene Munster, analyst with Piper Jaffray, wrote in response to the data. “We believe this demonstrates that while interest in the Galaxy S4 is growing, Apple continues to hold a meaningful lead as the smartphone with the broadest consumer appeal.”

A recent AppleInsider article detailing the Twitter analysis reminded readers that not every consumer in the market for a new smartphone is an avid Twitter user, so the study could lend biased results. Nevertheless, regardless of your preferences for mobile devices, iResQ's Samsung Galaxy and iPhone repair services can get any device back to working order should any damage occur.
