Good morning, my beautiful people. We have some good news for you if you own one of the new iPads; iResQ is now offering a wide variety of flat rate repairs for the iPad in addition to reducing our prices on the glass digitizer repair. It’s been less than a week after the new third generation iPad was released and we have already seen quite a few of them come in for repair. I was expecting one or two here and there for the first week or two, but crazy enough, we have had A LOT of broken new iPads come in. To the right you will see one that we just received. This is the before picture of it showing the cracked glass. I’ll post the after pic later on after one of our techs fixes it. Let me tell you this, our techs are now officially experts on repairing the new third gen iPad. Each of them has had the chance to fix at least one of these new devices. From what I hear from the tech room, fixing these iPads is not all that different than fixing an iPad 2. A few minor nuances here and there, but it is mostly the same.
What do you think about this? Are you surprised that so many of these new iPads are breaking so quick? Or is this all just a matter of numbers? Apple has already said that the new iPad has sold more than any of its previous two installments in the past (limited to weekend release sales). More new iPads out there increases the likelihood that we are going to see more broken screens. I’m not too sure. I suspect this has something to do with the increase in weight between the iPad 2 and the newest iPad. It is heavier and I think this increases the chances of the screen breaking when it is dropped.

Do you have a new iPad yet? Is it everything you expected it to be? Fast, elegant, hot….HOT!!! According to some reports that I spied on the interwebs today, some users of the new iPad are reporting that they are getting unusually hot during normal use and shutting down. At this point these are all rumors, but this is definitely worth mentioning as this does have some potentially huge implications.
It seems that nowadays Apple is hard pressed to release a new product without some sort of controversy; this reminds me of the iPhone 4’s “death grip” issue that caused iPhone 4s to substantially lose their signal if held a certain way. If the new iPad overheating issue is widespread enough and Apple can’t fix it with a simple software update, watch out. Who knows how they would solve this issue. Replacement units would be a huge ordeal to go through logistically, not to mention the inconvenience this would cause customers. This, however, is highly unlikely. Remember, Apple didn’t replace iPhone 4’s during the “death grip” issue. Instead, they released a software update changing the way the signal bars were to be calculated and offered customers free iPhone 4 bumpers that helped resolve the issue.
Here’s my guess, Apple releases a software update that resolves the issue. I have total confidence in Apple. One way or the other, the issue will be resolved.

It’s been a day since Apple introduced the new iPad. Pre-orders are now being processed and people should expect to have their brand new 2012 edition of the iPad in their hands as early as next week. Now it’s time for us to talk about repairs for the new iPad.
First off, if you break your new iPad, crack the screen, or damage it in any way, here is the page you need to visit: our New iPad Repair Page. Over time we will be filling this page up with the same quality repairs that you have seen on the iPad 2 repair page. As a matter of fact, we already know that the new iPad is very similar to the iPad 2 as far as the internal design goes (a few changes as far as placement of internal components are concerned, but similar nonetheless). Given the fact that our new iPad repair parts are similar to that of the iPad 2, our techs have likened the change in the internal form factor of the new iPad to that of the change between the iPod Touch Gen 2 and the iPod Touch Gen 3. Needless to say, our techs are going to be ready to repair the new iPad.
