Many people are choosing the Verizon Edge program these days. This program allows people to turn in their phones before their two year contract is up. The only catch is that they need to pay for the program every month. So they may have to pay $50 a month of the new phone they get, and whenever they want to upgrade, they go in and do it.
While this may seem like a great deal, Verizon has to make money somehow. They wouldn’t have this program if it’s didn’t end up giving them more money in the end.
With Verizon Edge, it may seems great that you get to pay a monthly cost rather than the $200 price of a new phone when you upgrade, but if you think about it, you’re spending way more than that with the Edge program. If the phone you choose comes along with a $50 monthly fee, you will be at the $200 upgrade cost of the phone in just 4 months. What that means is that you pay for the phone many times over – how is that a deal?
The Better Deal
We completely understand what it feels like to have a new phone. We love our tech toys too. However, there’s something about being able to keep the one you’ve invested in two years or more. Everything is on that device, and it’s familiar to you. That can be really nice!
