How to Fix a Cracked iPad Screen with Toothpaste

iPad / iPad

Having one scratch or crack on your iPad screen can be just as frustrating as having the whole screen shattered. That small imperfection can just glare at you every time you use your iPad and make you want to scream. Luckily, some people have learned how to fix a cracked iPad screen with toothpaste!

Toothpaste for Cracked Screens

This trick is only for iPads that have on small crack. You should do this if your screen is shattered or you have a huge gash in it.

What You’ll Need:

  • Towel
  • Compressed air
  • Lint free cloth
  • Cotton swab
  • Toothpaste

What to Do

Start by placing the towel down on a table or other hard surface. Put the iPad on top of it face up.

Use the compressed air to blow off the dust. Wipe it with the soft cloth.

Squeeze a small amount of toothpaste onto the cotton swab. Wipe off any excess toothpaste by running your finger along the side of it.

Put the cotton swab onto the cracked and drag it across. Press down slightly to get into the crack, but not too hard that you crack the screen even more.

Throw the swab away once you’ve covered the crack.

Take the soft cloth and cover your pinky with it. Drab your pinky over the crack pressing slightly down. This will remove the extra toothpaste.

Examine the crack on the iPad. If you can still see it, go ahead and use the toothpaste on a new cotton swab again. You’ll need to also wipe it with the soft cloth again.

While you may have to do it a couple of times, you should eventually not see the crack anymore.

Bonus Tip – Very Important

DO NOT use toothpaste that has a flavor added to it. This will have small bits in it that can scratch your screen as you are wiping it with the soft cloth.

Now that you know how to fix a cracked screen with toothpaste, go ahead and try it. It may just be what you need to keep you from having to replace the entire screen for just one, annoying scratch.

Warning

Do this at your own risk. We, of course, recommend having the screen repaired rather than using toothpaste because it returns full integrity to the device. If you try this, understand that you could cause additional scratches and cracks. Any repairs should be performed by qualified, experienced technicians.

We just wanted to offer this solution people have been talking about online in case anyone wanted to try it. Just understand the risks when trying it.
